Wawona, California is an unincorporated town placed totally inside Yosemite National Park. A town is placed on the to the south fork of the Merced River at an elevation of approximately 1300 m (4000 feet). These are in California Highway 41, the independent main road from either Fresno to Yosemite Valley.

Wawona is the location of the historic Wawona Hotel, built in 1876. These are a nigh town to Chilnualna Falls and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoia. A primary trailheads into a southern Yosemite wilderness are in Wawona.
